Our multi-pronged approach to COVID response aimed at supporting our communities, vendor partners and customers.
COVID-19 pandemic in India impacted the poor and disadvantaged the most. Responding to the immediate need to provide relief, we provided dry ration kits that meet the food and hygiene needs of a family for up to 1 month. This benefited about 78,077 most needy and vulnerable people across the country, including Delhi-NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jaipur, Ludhiana, Agra, Kanpur, Vellore and Vapi. The beneficiaries included daily wage laborers, street vendors, migrant workers, differently abled people, senior citizens, distressed women and garment workers. We partnered with nonprofits like GOONJ, PAHAL, Samarthanam Trust, Aajeevika Bureau, Udayan Care and Kat-Katha to implement this program and leveraged the capabilities of SPAR.
To support the health infrastructure that was challenged due to the pandemic, we donated diagnostic and covid care equipment including ventilators, ICU cots, monitors, syringe pumps and HFNC machines to hospitals in Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Hyderabad. We also supported the vaccination of over 2953 contract employees.
To provide a safe shopping experience to our customers, we ensured availability of sanitizers and foot pedal stands across our stores, warehouses and offices. Employees were provided with facemasks and face-shields to minimize exposure. In addition, all stores and warehouses were equipped with thermal scanners and oximeters. This ensured safety of over 100 million walk-ins.
The number of covid dry ration kits distributed was around 7967 dry ration kits were distributed by partnering with NGOs to the marginalized sections of the society.
The recent floods in Kerala in 2018 had left a highly devastating effect in several parts of the state. Landmark Group is supporting Goonj in its rehabilitation efforts in Wayanad district of Kerala.
With its time tested model of involving communities in rehabilitation and reconstruction work, Goonj initiated it’s Cloth For Work in Wayanad. People worked in rehabilitation & rebuilding works, cleaning up operations-from cleaning roads to restoring their waterbodies and in turn received the family kit with dignity instead of a normal charitable activity.
So far, we have reached a total of 37,472 individuals from Edavaka, Thavinjal and Vellamunda panchayats in Wayanad.
